A Walk in the ‘NailBourne Valley’

Bridge to Barham circular 8 miles (13Km)

This circular walk of   from Bridge to Barham encompasses fields, woodland, and beautiful views of rolling green pastures on it's way over the Downs to the tiny hamlet of Heart's Delight and then down into Barham village.

On the way back the walk weaves between the Nailbourne and the old Elham Valley Railway  passing through Kingston, Bishopsbourne, Charlton park and then Bourne park with it's impressive Queen Anne mansion.

The village of Bridge takes its name from the Saxon “Bregge”, meaning bridge, (now just a hump in the road) then a major crossing over the Nailbourne which in Saxon times was a navigable waterway.

The village of Barham dating back to the 8th century features nearly two hundred historic sites
